Purdue returns to the courts as a team after a solid opening tournament at the Kitty Harrison Invitational at North Carolina. Clement went 2-1 in singles action and recorded a ranked win in her first career contest. Gencer was a perfect 3-0 in singles as well. Larranaga rolled off a pair of victories in doubles play.

Play starts Friday with two rounds of singles in the main draw, a round of consolation singles and the main round of 16 in doubles. Saturday will have the quarterfinals and semifinals of the main draw doubles and singles, along with two more rounds of consolation matches. The championship matches will be played Sunday at the Nicolet Bachman Tennis Center.

In its 48th edition, the Milwaukee Tennis Classic started with the joint vision of Al McGuire, then-athletic director of Marquette University, Chas Mulcahy, John Roethle and George Gaspar. The goal was to create a national intercollegiate men's and women's tennis event which would place Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin on the national tennis map and provide major community outreach including encouragement and support for the underserved.
