In their first true road test of the season, the No. 8 Purdue Boilermakers swept the Utah Utes, 29-27, 25-20, 25-13 to remain undefeated at 5-0 and hand Utah its first loss of the season (4-1).

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – In their first true road test of the season, the No. 8 Purdue Boilermakers swept the Utah Utes, 29-27, 25-20, 25-13 to remain undefeated at 5-0 and hand Utah its first loss of the season (4-1).
 
The Boilermakers fended off four consecutive set points by Utah to come back and tie the match, 24-24 on a block assist by Raven Colvin and Eva Hudson. A battle ensued, with Purdue reaching two set points before securing the 1-0 lead behind a 29-27 score on a kill by the relentless outside hitter Kenna Wollard. Purdue improved as the match went on, hitting .325% in Set 2 and posting a match-high five blocks in the final set.

Junior Eva Hudson registered a season-high 18 kills while hitting at a .311 efficiency, the third time this season the Boilermaker has hit above .300.
 
Middle blocker Raven Colvin was on nine of the team's 11 total blocks. Meanwhile, setter Taylor Anderson was one block shy of tying her career-high as she finished the night with seven blocks, to go with a double-double of 34 assists, 10 digs and an errorless three kills. The sophomore's performance marked the second consecutive match with a double-double.

Wollard finished the night with seven kills and continued to hit at least .300% in every match this season, producing a .333 attack % in the win.

Purdue has now started the season 5-0 seven times under head coach Dave Shondell (last: 2022).
 
Purdue closes out the trip out west tomorrow in Logan, Utah, as the Boilermakers take on Utah State at 7 p.m. ET on the Mountain West Network.
