WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Weekend No. 4 of Big Ten play and Purdue Baseball's fourth home weekend overlap as Michigan State comes to town for the first time since 2019 and just the third time since Alexander Field opened 11 years ago.

First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Saturday's middle game of the series will serve as the nightcap of a Purdue Athletics' doubleheader that begins with the football's annual spring game at Ross-Ade Stadium at noon. The action-packed Saturday on campus also features the College of Agriculture's Spring Fest, Aviation Day at the airport and the College of Engineering's evGrandPrix race (the electric edition) next door to Alexander Field.

The Spartans are the opponent for the frontend of the Boilermakers' consecutive home weekends this month, which comprises the heart of the current nine-game homestand. Tuesday's homestand opener marked the beginning of a stretch in which Purdue is scheduled to play 16 of its final 23 regular-season games at Alexander.

The Boilermakers are aiming to build on their ninth ever series sweep on the road in Big Ten, bringing out the brooms against a Rutgers team that had not been swept in a three-game Big Ten series at home since April 2017. They've bounced back from a four-game losing streak in Big Ten play with a four-game win streak in the league, moving into the top half of the standings with nine of their final 15 conference games at home.

The Purdue-Michigan State series has not featured a weekend sweep since the Boilermakers brought out the brooms in East Lansing in 2001 as part of a 13-game win streak. Purdue won a program-record 21 true road games that year.

Meanwhile, three of the Big Ten's most infrequent visitors to Alexander all come to town over the final six weekends of the season, beginning with the Spartans. Dating back to 2013, only six of the 22 Purdue-MSU games have been played in West Lafayette. Last year, the teams squared off in East Lansing for the opening weekend of Big Ten play and Michigan State swept a Sunday doubleheader to take the series after the Boilermakers rallied for a 5-4 victory Friday. It proved to be a key result as MSU finished one game ahead of Purdue standings and claimed the final berth in the Big Ten Tournament field.
