EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 65 Purdue women's tennis defeated Michigan State 4-1, claiming the third conference victory of the season.
Purdue took an early lead by obtaining the doubles point. At No. 2, Csilla Fodor/Kennedy Gibbs beat Marley Lambert/Liisa Vehvilainen 6-2. To confirm the Boilermakers' doubles point, Carmen Gallardo Guevara/Tara Katarina Milic claimed a 6-3 victory at No. 1.
At No. 1, junior Carmen Gallardo Guevara defeated the Spartans' Matilde Morais 7-6(6), 6-3. This victory puts Gallardo Guevara's singles record at 12-2. Following the win at the one spot, Juana Larranaga bested Issey Purser at No. 4. After falling in the first set, Larranaga came back and won the next two sets 6-4, 6-2. Clinching the conference win for the Boilermakers was sophomore Ashlie Wilson at No. 6. Wilson defeated Natalie Stasny in three sets, giving Purdue its tenth victory of the season. Senior Csilla Fodor and sophomore Kennedy Gibbs' singles matches were left unfinished after Wilson's win.
