WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team fell to the University of Memphis Tigers 4-2.
The Boilermakers dropped the doubles point to the Tigers. When the point was clinched, Kennedy Gibbs/Ashlie Wilson were neck and neck with Leonie Moeller/Camila Soares at No. 2, going unfinished at 4-4.
In singles play, No. 117 Carmen Gallardo Guevara put the Boilermakers on the board with her victory over Memphis' Camila Soares at No. 1. The junior won the match in two straight sets, going 7-6(4), 6-1. The win keeps Gallardo Guevara undefeated in singles this season. Taking the next match for Purdue was Tara Katarina Milic's victory over Emily Meyer at No. 4. After dropping the first set, Milic came back and won the last two sets, ending with 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Both Kennedy Gibbs and Juana Larranaga went to three sets in their singles match. Gibbs narrowly fell to the Tigers' Leonie Moeller. Once the match was clenched for Memphis, Larranaga had to let her match go unfinished. The junior was leading in the third set 4-1.
