WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Following its first win, the Purdue Boilermakers host Western Michigan and Denver in Schwartz this Friday and Sunday.

The Boilermakers return home having split the first road trip against Oregon and Portland. After dropping a close decision to Oregon, Purdue's first win of the year came in a 6-1 bashing of the Portland Pilots. Singles No. 1-5 all picked up wins and the Boilers clinched the first doubles point of the season.

As January comes to a close, Purdue will have a chance to get its first home win of the season and first since March 26, 2023, in a 4-3 win against Butler.

Stefan Simeunovic and Marino Jakic have fueled the Boilermaker fire to start the spring. They are a combined 6-0 and have yet to drop a set through three matches. Simeunovic owns a team-best 10 wins dating back to the fall campaign, but Jakic has won five consecutive singles matches in straight sets dating back to November's Bonita Bay Classic.

SCOUTING WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan comes to West Lafayette with a 2-1 record with wins over Ferris State and Brown. The Bronco's only loss came to another Big Ten opponent, then No. 22 Michigan State.

The Boilermakers are 21-24 all-time against the Broncos. Western Michigan has won eight straight contests against the Boilermakers including a 4-3 win on Jan. 27, 2023. This is just the third time the two teams have faced off since 2011, before that the programs had played nearly every season since 1990.

SCOUTING DENVER
This weekend will be the first two dual matches for the Pioneers. Denver will square off with Western Michigan on Saturday before taking on the Boilermakers on Sunday.

Denver was picked to win its second consecutive Summit League title after receiving three first-place votes in the coaches poll. Daniel Sancho Arbizu was also named to the conference's Preseason Athlete Watch List. The junior was named the 2023 Summit League Newcomer of the Year after he finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 30-6 record in singles play.

Purdue is 2-3 all-time against Denver after being swept in last year's regular season matchup on March 12, 2023.
