WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A meet record for Brady Samuels, freshman record for Abbie Kehmeier and 17 event victories all added up to 62 Boilermakers scoring for Purdue swimming & diving at the 11th co-ed edition of the Purdue Invitational.
The Purdue men and women both produced 49 lifetime bests at the annual midseason showcase. The Purdue women won the eight-team meet for the third time in program history and first time since 2015.
Samuels eclipsed the meet record in the 100 backstroke three times, setting the new benchmark at 45.81. The junior also owns the meet record in the 100 butterfly (45.66) from 2021. This year he swept his three individual events – 50 and 100 freestyle, 100 back – while also helping the Boilermakers win three relays (200 free, 200 and 400 medley).
Kehmeier eclipsed the team's freshman record in the 100 back (54.26), besting a first-year benchmark set by Abby Marcukaitis last fall. Marcukaitis moved into third place in team history with her career-best time of 53.57 this year at the Purdue Invitational.
Maggie Love, Caitlin Hurley and Maddie Phillips all scored in four individual events at the Purdue Invite this year. Love (200 IM) and Hurley (1650 free) were four-time A finalists while each claiming an event victory. Samuels also accounted for 60 team points with his three individual event wins.
