- In last year's win, Zach Edey scored 20 points with 13 rebounds, while Braden Smith had 20 points and 3 assists. After having two turnovers in the game's first two minutes, Purdue had just four turnovers in the last 38 minutes of the contest.
- After not playing for almost 50 years from 1969 (NCAA Regional final won by Purdue), the teams played in the 2017, 2019 and 2022 Gavitt Games. This will mark the fourth game in the last seven seasons.
