WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Women's Tennis team will cap off their fall slate in sunny Florida at the FGCU Bonita Bay Classic Nov. 3-5.
With six returning Boilermakers getting reps in the fall season, the weekend ahead should bolster some already stellar records. Three Boilers sport eight or more wins with Kennedy Gibbs, Carmen Gallardo Guevara and Juana Larranaga combining for a 25-4 record in singles play.
Purdue is coming off their most recent outing at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional where Guevara reached the round of 16 which earned her a team-best 9-1 record. Doubles pair Csilla Fodor/Kennedy Gibbs also turned a corner by reaching the regional's quarterfinals and winning three out of four matches.
The Bonita Bay Classic will consist of four teams featuring the host school Florida Gulf Coast, the University of Memphis, Notre Dame and the Purdue Boilermakers.
The Fighting Irish will sport nationally recognized talent with a pair of singles players (No. 53 Page Freeman and No. 73 Julia Andreach) and two doubles teams (No. 21 Julia Andreach/Carrie Beckman and No. 49 Rylie Hanford/Yashna Yellayi) in the ITA preseason rankings.
The Boilermakers are 1-8 against ranked opponents this fall with the only ranked win belonging to Fodor. She toppled No. 55 Anna Arkadinaou at the ITA All-American Championships in early October.
There will be no live video but fans can follow the tournament's results after each day on the event website.
