Krivokapic and Simeunovic Stay Hot in Singles

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Four singles wins capped off day two of Purdue's run at the Bonita Bay Classic.

Aleksa Krivokapic continues his stellar weekend as he is one of two Boilermaker to win both his singles matches. The freshman pulled out another super tiebreak victory, but this time he rallied from a set down. Krivokapic dropped the opening set 4-6 but battled back to even the match. Onlookers would never have known it was a close contest based on the tiebreak set. Krivokapic dominated Hugo Magnusson allowing just one point for a magnificent victory to start singles play.

Stefan Simeunovic, Marino Jakic and Mujtaba Ali-Khan also joined their teammate in the win column. Simeunovic was the second Boilermaker to stay undefeated in singles play with a straight set win over Eric Oncins. 

Jakic and Ali-Khan earned their first wins of the weekend knocking back the competition with quick wins. Jakic never let up earning a 6-2, 6-4 decision, while Ali-Khan had to fight in the first set to avoid a tiebreak. The sophomore clinched a 7-5 win to take set one and comfortably pulled off the second set with a 6-1 final.

Purdue closes out the Bonita Bay Classic tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 5 against Wichita State beginning at 9 a.m. EST.
