WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Ackerman-Allen and Kampen-Cosler, Purdue's two premier on-campus golf courses situated just north of Ross-Ade Stadium, were listed among Golf Digest's top 25 college courses in the country. Kampen-Cosler and Ackerman-Allen ranked No. 14 and No. 24, respectively, on the list that includes courses directly affiliated with universities.

Home of Purdue Men's and Women's Golf, the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex was built from existing courses that were reimagined by the late course architect and Indiana golf icon Pete Dye.

Ackerman-Allen, formerly known as Purdue's historic South Course and later Ackerman Hills, was originally constructed in 1934 by Indiana Golf Hall of Famer Bill Diddle. The renovation of the championship course was made possible by major gifts from alumnus Jim Ackerman's family, former Purdue golf team member Samuel R. Allen, Mike and Kay Birck and Fred Fehsenfeld. The rededication was aimed to respect the Purdue South Golf Course tradition while giving the university and local community, along with the Boilermaker golf programs, the very best collegiate golf facilities in the country.

Kampen-Cosler was redesigned by Dye in 1998 on the grounds of the old Purdue North Course. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. The course has also played host to a number of prestigious collegiate and public tournaments such as the 2000 Men's Big Ten Championship, the 2003 Women's NCAA Championship, the 2004 Indiana Open, the 2005 Women's Western Amateur, and the 2008 Men's NCAA Championship. Additionally, the course hosted an NCAA Men's Golf Regional and will do so again in May 2024. The Kampen-Cosler Course, named in honor of Emerson Kampen and Steve and Lynne Cosler for their support of Purdue Athletics, has earned national acclaim from many that have played it.

"They could have a U.S. Open here and it would be a good test," said longtime UNLV men's golf head coach Dwaine Knight after the 2017 NCAA Regionals. "You could host any tournament you wanted here."

Dye, who earned a Doctor of Landscape Architecture degree from Purdue, made it his personal goal to produce a golf complex that would be both a challenge to collegiate golfers and act as a classroom for Purdue students.
