WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Zach Edey and Braden Smith recorded double-doubles and Ethan Morton posted an outstanding floor game for the No. 3-ranked Boilermakers in their annual Fan Day scrimmage at Mackey Arena.
The scrimmage was the first opportunity for the general public to see the Boilermakers before next Saturday's charity exhibition game at No. 14-ranked Arkansas.
Zach Edey finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and three assists against no turnovers while going 8-of-13 from the field. After starting the scrimmage 1-of-6 from the field in the first session, he made all seven of his shots in the final two stanzas.
Meanwhile, Braden Smith tallied 11 points (4-of-6 shooting) with 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals in the 30-minute session. In two scrimmages this month, Smith tallied 31 points, 18 assists, nine rebounds and six steals against just five turnovers.
Ethan Morton played an outstanding floor game with eight points, (3-of-5 shooting), eight assists, four rebounds, four steals and one blocked shot.
Fletcher Loyer led the Boilermakers with 17 points (5-of-7 from the field) and three assists. In the two scrimmages, Loyer averaged 15.5 points on 12-of-19 shooting (.632) from the field.
Trey Kaufman-Renn added 14 points and eight rebounds and Lance Jones contributed 12 points, making four 3-pointers.
Purdue will face No. 14-ranked Arkansas next Saturday in Fayetteville, Arkansas, beginning at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on SEC+.
