Guevara Remains Perfect In ITA Run

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Three Boilermakers continue to make deep runs at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.

With three of five singles players advancing past the singles round of 64, only Carmen Gallardo Guevara caught a Friday win in the round of 32. 

Guevara powered her way to victory in three sets over Nishitha Saravanan from Miami University. After dropping the first set 4-6, Guevara stormed back with a fury in sets two and three. She allowed just four games across the final two sets and put the nail in the coffin with a 6-1 decision in the final set.

Not only is Carmen unbeaten in the regional's main draw, but she is a perfect 9-0 to start her fall season. She will look forward to the round of 16 on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1:15 p.m. EST.

Over in the doubles draw, Kennedy Gibbs/Csilla Fodor have been on a tear. After starting the fall 0-3 as a team, the duo flipped the switch by plowing through their regional competition. In their three ITA contests, they have only surrendered six games to their opponents. 

This is the second consecutive year Purdue has reached the quarterfinals of the main doubles draw after Tara Milic/Carmen Guevara's run in 2022. The pair of Gibbs/Fodor will take on Xavier's Imani Graham/Anna Roggenburk for a spot in the semifinals.
