CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Freshman Henrik Villanger reached the consolation round of 16 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.
After dropping his opening match in the main draw, Villager moved to the consolation bracket where he qualified for the round of 64 with a super tie-break win over Peter Kalocsai. Villanger opened the match with a 6-2 win in the first set and pulled out a 10-4 win in the tiebreak to advance.
The consolation bracket gave Villanger an automatic bye and advanced him to the round of 32. An unfortunate injury to Southern Indiana's Dylan Brown gave Henrik a win by default and he now awaits an opponent for his next match.
Over in the main draw, Soham Purohit's stupendous singles run came to an end in the round of 16. Purohit suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Middle Tennessee State's Ondrej Horak. The freshman ends his ITA Regional debut with a 3-1 record, bringing his overall record to 6-2.
