WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The fall season continues as the Purdue Women's Tennis team travels to Bloomington for another rendition of the Hoosier Classic.
Fresh off their first test of the year, the Boilers tallied 18 total (12 singles, 6 doubles) wins at Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational.
Carmen Gallardo Guevara and Kennedy Gibbs flashed as they went undefeated in singles play.
Gibbs won two of her three matches in straight sets over Ole Miss's Reka Zadori and Louisville's Germany Davis. Guevara showed resilience coming up with two victories in super-tiebreak matches. Her first win over Valeria Ray of Vanderbilt was dominant as she won 6-0 in the first set and clinched 10-5 in a tiebreak. She achieved a similar result in a 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 win over Louisville's Berta Miret.
The new doubles pair of Juana Larranaga/Calissa Dellabarca led the way with a 2-1 record. The duo won their first two matches of the weekend and nearly went undefeated. In their final match of the Invitational, the tandem was just edged out in a 7-6(2) loss to Vanderbilt's Valeria Ray/Amy Stevens.
The Hoosier Classic will feature Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, Northern Illinois and Miami (Ohio). Last spring, Purdue faced the Hoosiers, Bearcats and Musketeers in dual matches defeating all three.

Oct. 1. The qualifying draw will follow early next week with the main draw beginning on Thurs. Oct. 5.
