PLENTY OF EXPERIENCE IN TERRE HAUTE
Purdue has competed at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at least once every season since 2016, with the exception of the Covid-restricted season of 2020.  A year ago, the Boilermakers raced at both the John McNichols Invite and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at ISU's home course.

Both the men and women placed third as a team at the 2022 John McNichols Invitational. Then-sophomore Nathan Walker led the Boilermaker men and then-junior Payne Turney paced the women. To conclude the cross country campaign, Purdue raced at the NCAA Great lakes Regional in Terre Haute, as the men were eighth and the women ninth. Walker and then-senior Emma Tate led the way.

Previously in Terre Haute, Purdue won both the men's and women's team events at the 2021 John McNichols meet, and the men were crowned champions in 2018 as well. At the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships, the Purdue men placed 11th overall, the team's best NCAA finish since 1950.

LAST TIME OUT: SEASON-OPENING WIN
The Boilermakers opened the 2023 season with a win and a runner-up finish at the Winrow Valparaiso Open on September 1. The men were crowned team champions on the 6k course and the women were second overall in the 5k race. Sophomore Douglas Buckeridge finished fifth overall to pace the men and freshman Elise Peckinpaugh placed sixth overall to lead the women.

Peckinpaugh and Buckeridge were two of eight Boilermakers that made their Purdue debuts at Sunset Hill Farm County Park.
