WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimming & diving's Brady Samuels, Coleman Modglin and Maycey Vieta have an opportunity to compete on big stages as they represent the Boilermakers in Indianapolis and San Salvador.

Samuels is entered in five events and Modglin in three events at USA Swimming's Phillips 66 National Championships this week in Downtown Indy. As a sophomore this season, Samuels set a Purdue record in the 100-yard backstroke while also posting career bests in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle. He earned All-America honors in the 100 back. Modglin moved into fourth place in team history in the 100-yard breaststroke with his career best at the Big Ten Championships, winning the B final of the 200 breast the following night.

Vieta's busy month of July begins with a trip to Central America to represent Puerto Rico in 10-meter diving on July 5 at the Central American and Caribbean Games. She's then headed to Japan for the World Aquatics Championships (July 14-30), where Purdue will also be represented by divers Brandon Loschiavo, Greg Duncan and Jordan Rzepka (competing for USA Diving).

Vieta is the reigning Big Ten champion in platform diving and a three-year All-American in the event. She confirmed she plans to return to Purdue as a fifth-year student-athlete, exercising an eligibility extension after the 2020-21 NCAA season was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. She also competed for Puerto Rico at the 2022 World Championships and 2021 Diving World Cup.

Last summer, Samuels finished top 40 in the 100-meter free and 100 butterfly at Nationals. In August 2021, he was a finalist in the 50 and 100 free at USA Swimming's Speedo Summer Championships (East Region). Modglin had career bests in all three long course breaststroke events at Nationals a year ago. He earned second swims in the 100 and 200 breast, highlighted by a berth in the B final of the 200.

Next month, Purdue swimming will also be represented at the Indiana Senior State Championships (July 13-16 in Indianapolis) and USA Swimming's TYR Pro Championships (July 26-29 in Irvine, California).

This page will be updated with results from the events.
