WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team learned where it will head for the 2024 ITA Kickoff Weekend next February, as the No. 49 Boilermakers selected to go to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face No. 42 Arkansas during the ITA Kickoff Weekend Draft on Thursday. No. 6 Michigan will play No. 51 Utah in the other match of the bracket slated to be played January 26-29, 2024.
The Boilermakers will be the No. 3 seed in the Ann Arbor bracket, returning to the event for the first time since 2020.
The ITA Kickoff Weekend Draft is a special event that gives programs around the country to choose which host site they would like to play at during the 2024 ITA Kickoff Weekend. With many factors taken into consideration (travel, opponent, etc.), the draft gives coaches the power to choose where their team plays. With the 15 host sites already determined based on 2023 year-end rankings, the remaining teams were able to choose where they want to play based on year-end finish starting with the No. 16 ranked team and running until all of the spots are filled.
The Boilermakers will vie for a chance to travel to the ITA National Indoors Championship. Purdue earned their return to the annual launch event of the collegiate tennis season after going 15-8 this season. Purdue will lose graduate student Liz Norman in the lineup next season, but fifth-year senior Csilla Fodor announced her intention to return for the 2023-24 campaign this week. Fodor will break into the Boilermakers' top-15 for career singles victories early next season.
