WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Due to the threat of thunderstorms throughout the day, Purdue baseball's weekend wraparound series finale with South Dakota State on Monday at 11:30 a.m. has been canceled. The game will not be made up.
The Boilermakers host Nebraska the weekend of May 18-20 to conclude their home season at Alexander Field. Up next is the midweek finale, set for Wednesday evening at UIC. First pitch in Chicago is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
Purdue rallied to win Sunday 3-2 in walk-off fashion, taking what proved to be the rubber game of the series. The Boilermakers have won five of their last six weekend series and went 4-3 on their season-high seven-game homestand.
Purdue is one of four teams tied for fifth place in the Big Ten at 10-8. Illinois is in ninth place at 11-10. The top eight teams in the standings qualify for the Big Ten Tournament (May 23-28 in Omaha).
