WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — In the series opener vs. Wisconsin, the Purdue softball team dropped a 0-7 decision. With the result, Purdue falls to 17-20 (2-7 Big Ten) while Wisconsin moves to 18-10 (5-2 Big Ten).
The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when the Badgers' bats got hot, posting five run in the frame.
Receiving just her second loss of the season was starting pitcher Madi Elish, who moves to 6-2 on the year. Elish pitched the first 4.1 innings, allowing two runs. Alexa Pinarski and Alex Echazarreta both saw time in relief.
Defensively, despite three Boilermaker errors, Purdue dished up two double plays. dished up a double play to end the third inning when right fielder Jordyn Ramos made the catch and threw to first in time to tag the Badger runner out.
Purdue was out-hit 0-8 in the game, the first no-hitter of the year.
