DES MOINES, Iowa – The Purdue track & field earned a pair of top-three finishes to conclude the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 29, in Des Moines, Iowa.

In the team's final regular-season meet of the season, the Boilermakers won three Drake Relays titles, earned seven top-three finishes and placed 16 in the top five at the nationally-renowned meet. One top-10 time in school history was recorded along with six personal-best marks over the course of the four days at Drake Stadium.

On a cooler and windy day at the Blue Oval that began with morning sunshine and ended with an afternoon of rain, Purdue notched a pair of top-three finishes. In six total events on Saturday, the Boilermakers registered four top-five finishes.

The Old Gold and Black were second and third in their only two running events on Saturday, both of which occurred in the rain. The women's 4x400 concluded the day with a runner-up showing in the invitational event with a time of 3:38.47. Junior Cierra Williams and freshmen Jaylie Lohmeyer, Taliyah Booker and Bryanna Craig finished less than one second behind the winner.

Just before the 4x400 on the track was the 4x100, where the men placed third in the final in 40.26. Junior Jahn Riley, fifth-year Justin Becker and freshmen Connor Czajkowski and Eric Young II bested their finals-qualifying time from Friday.

The pole vault began as the clouds, and increased winds, descended on Des Moines, though junior Logan Sandlin finished fifth overall with a personal-best clearance. His mark of 4.71 meters, which he earned on his second attempt, is the second-best by a Boilermaker since 2015.

Fellow junior LJ Hill also notched a fifth-place finish. In the long jump to begin the day, Hill earned a mark of 7.10m on his second attempt. Also on Saturday, fifth-year Johnny Vanos was seventh in the hammer throw invitational with a throw of 62.65m and sophomore Cale Ayers was 16th in the open hammer throw with a mark of 51.64m.

Earlier at the Drake Relays, the Boilermakers won three titles on Friday, courtesy of Williams in the 400-meter and both the men's and women's 4x200 relays. On Thursday, junior Payne Turney ran the eighth-fastest 1,500m time in school history, while freshman Bryanna Craig opened the heptathlon on Wednesday.

A weekend off is up next before the postseason begins for the Boilermakers at the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 12-14 in Bloomington, Indiana.
