DES MOINES, Iowa – Freshman Bryanna Craig of the Purdue track & field team opened the Drake Relays with the first four events of the heptathlon on Wednesday, April 26, in Des Moines, Iowa.
With four of seven heptathlon events complete, Craig is in fifth place with 3,256 points. Her opening day was highlighted by a collegiate-best clearance in the high jump.
Craig's competition started with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.29 seconds. She followed it up with a high jump mark of 1.75 meters, which was second-best overall. The personal-record clearance is tied for eighth in the Big Ten this season.
Up next was the shot put, where a mark of 9.91m on Craig's first attempt was good for 13th. Her day concluded with a 200m time of 25.10, which was fourth.
The heptathlon concludes on Thursday with the final three events starting at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT.
Purdue's distance runners open competition on Thursday at Drake Stadium, with the 1,500-meter at 5:58 p.m. ET / 4:58 p.m. CT. The last race on Thursday is the 10,000m at 10:09 p.m. ET / 9:09 p.m. CT.
