WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Daniel Labrador and Tomasz Dudek picked up a massive doubles win on Saturday when the Boilermakers were swept by the No. 72 Indiana Hoosiers.
The match began with a thrilling start as two doubles teams took early leads over Indiana. The competition was fierce as the two rivals put on a show at No. 1. Labroador/Dudek, Purdue's most successful doubles team, went game-for-game with the No. 70 ranked pair from Bloomington but were able to pull away in the heat of the battle.
With Indiana's Fletchall/Tiraspolsky approaching the tying game at 3-2, Labrador/Dudek put their feet to the accelerator and never looked back. Purdue took the game for a 4-2 lead and closed out the match with a 6-3 victory.
The ranked win was the first for any Boilermaker this season, and it marked the first career win for both Labrador and Dudek over a nationally ranked opponent.
The Hoosier showed their nationally ranked skills as singles played out. Milledge Cossu and Michal Wozniak were the only Boilermakers to force a third set after going down. Both came up just shy of a victory with Cossu losing 7-10 loss in the final set and Wozniak dropped a 10-12 decision in a win by two extension of the third set.
