SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team concluded the indoor regular season on Saturday afternoon at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
Four personal-record marks were set, in addition to two season-bests, as 16 Boilermakers competed in the final meet before next weekend's Big Ten Championships.
Sophomore Anne Busse won the pole vault to earn her first collegiate victory, as she cleared 3.65 meters on her first attempt to pick up the win. Sophomore Alison Casey was third with a personal-best clearance of 3.50m.
All three Boilermakers to compete in the weight throw posted personal-best marks. Freshman Rebecca Caliendo was third in the women's event with a throw of 16.27m. For the men, freshmen Leo Maxwell (fifth, 17.06m) and Seth Allen (sixth, 17.04m) also earned PRs.
Freshman Danny Affleck was the runner-up in the pole vault thanks to a clearance of 4.73m.
On the track, seniors Meagan Hathaway (mile, 5:03.31) and Joseph Romanyk (800-meters, 1:55.65) ran season-best times.
Along with Purdue and host-Notre Dame, the Alex Wilson Invitational field included Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State.
Purdue travels to the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend. The annual meet, which will once again be hosted by the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, is set for February 24-25.
