WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue women's tennis lost to Kentucky 4-3 for its first loss of the season.
The Boilermakers fought in singles after dropping the doubles point. Senior Csilla Fodor put the Boilers on the board with a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 over Kentucky's Lidia Gonzalez. Fodor has not lost a singles match since the first of the season.
Freshman Kennedy Gibbs was close behind Fodor with a win of her own. Gibbs recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win over Makayla Mills from Kentucky at No. 5.
Purdue's third point came from a win at No. 6 from sophomore Juana Larranaga. After dropping the first set, Larranaga fought back to claim the second and third
from Kentucky's Zoe Hammond. The Argentinian tied the match for the Boilers with her 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Purdue is back in Schwartz Tennis Center on Sat. Feb. 25 for a double header against Toledo and Butler.
