WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team was narrowly defeated 3-4 by Ball State after an incredible mid-week match.
The Boilers returned to Schwartz with a fire for competition. Purdue battled through doubles with thrilling games at No. 1 and 3. Daniel Labrador/Tomasz Dudek got the train rolling with a 6-4 victory in a match they led through its entirety.
Milledge Cossu/Mujtaba Ali-Khan laid it all on the court in their doubles decision match. The duo worked their way back from a 4-2 deficit to force the tiebreak. The Cardinals snatched back their momentum taking a 5-2 lead and eventually took the doubles point with a 7-6(4) win at No. 3.
Despite trailing the match, Purdue refused to back down. Labrador carried his win from doubles into his match against Vince Orlando. He won in straight sets for the first time this spring, and also secured his first win at No. 2.
The Boilers climbed their way back to tie it 3-3. Freshman Hassan Baroudi won his second match of the season at No. 6 in three sets, while Dudek clinched his first win of the year.
Dudek's three-set victory was his first win at No. 5 since the 2019 season. He dominated the first set 6-1 before dropping the second. He was able to lock in the win by never trailing in his 6-3 decision in the final set.

Purdue will have their first extended break of the spring. The Boilers are back in Schwartz next Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. against Xavier.
