MULTI-TEAM DUAL MEET INFORMATION
Purdue Men & Women at the Big Ten Triple Duals/Quad
Northwestern hosts #25 Minnesota, Purdue & the Iowa Women
Friday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. ET / Saturday, Jan. 28 at Noon ET
Norris Aquatics Center / Evanston, Illinois
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue swimming & diving teams close out their dual meet schedules with the annual two-day, multi-team league showcase as Northwestern takes its turn as the host of the Big Ten Triple Duals.
Action at the Norris Aquatics Center along the lakeshore in Evanston is set for Friday at 6 p.m. ET and Saturday at noon. Nineteen events will be contested over the two sessions. All the swimming events will feature two heats.
The Boilermakers have six Chicagoland area natives returning to the Land of Lincoln this weekend – Dylan Burau (Wheaton), Elissa Haake (Lombard), Michaela Herwig (Geneva), Andy Kelly (Wilmette), Connor McCarthy (Elmhurst) and Kat Mueller (Batavia).
BIG TEN TRIPLE DUALS/QUAD NOTABLES
• With the Iowa women also among the field this year, it's a Big Ten Quad again for the first time since 2013. Wisconsin hosted the meet that year and it was the last time it featured Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue and UW on the women's side. That four-team field was a constant from 1997 to 2013.
• The Purdue women are back at the meet for the first time since 2020. Last year, they opted to host Illinois for a Senior Day meet instead of traveling to Minnesota along with the men.
• Northwestern is hosting the meet for the third time (2016, 2019) since joining the field for the 2014-15 school year, replacing Wisconsin.
• Purdue's fifth-year student-athletes – Nick Sherman and Maggie Merriman – are the only active Boilermakers that have competed at NU's Norris Aquatics Center for a college meet. They were both freshmen when NU last hosted in February 2019.
• The Boilermakers are in line to host the meet again next year – likely Jan. 26-27 – as part of Senior Day weekend.
• Along with the 1,000 freestyle in place of the mile, the 400 medley relay and platform diving are the only events not included at the Big Ten Quad that are featured at the Big Ten or NCAA Championships. The Norris Aquatics Center does not feature a diving tower.
Jordan Rzepka's springboard sweep, which earned him Big Ten Diver of the Week honors, headlined the Purdue highlights at last year's Big Ten Triple Duals in Minneapolis. Brady Samuels was victorious in the 100 butterfly and also teamed up with Nick Sherman to help the Boilermakers win the 200 free relay. Keelan Hart (100 free) and Skyler Youkin (100 fly) also won their heats Saturday.
Northwestern has competed at the last two Purdue Invitationals in November, winning the women's title at the 2021 Purdue Invite.
