ROSEMONT, Ill. – Daryn Wright's victory in platform diving and season-best score as part of Purdue's 1-2-3-4 finish in the event vs. Indiana earned the first-year Boilermaker her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor of the month.
Wright moved into 13th place in program history with a list score of 298.60, her best on the tower since surpassing the 300-point mark in both the prelims and semifinals while representing USA Diving at the World Championships in June.
Wright added a runner-up showing (via a 302-point list) on 1-meter at the Senior Day dual meet. The Purdue women finished 2-3-4-5 in the event. She has six event victories this season. Including her bronze medal on the tower at the USA Diving Winter Nationals in December, she has finished top three in 13 of her last 14 events dating back Purdue's Oct. 21 home-opening dual vs. UIndy.
Wright swept the Big Ten Diver and Freshman of the Week awards two weeks ago after her springboard sweep in the Boilermakers' dual meet victory at Illinois. She joins swimmer Meagan Lim (in 2013-14) as members of Purdue's women's program to win multiple Freshman of the Week honors since the Big Ten added the first-year accolade to its weekly awards program midway through the 2011-12 campaign.
Around the Big Ten, Wright joins Indiana's Kristina Paegle and Wisconsin's Blair Stoneburg (both swimmers) to be multi-time Freshman of the Week winners this season.
