WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (April 29, 2022) - Purdue Athletics concluded the ninth-annual Purdue Day of Giving with a record participation of more than 2,400 gifts, raising more than $5.3 million in support of Purdue Athletics' 18 sport programs. Additionally, for the first time ever, the John Purdue Club annual fund has broken its previous record high, surpassing $10.7 million.
In an era following unprecedented financial challenges felt across the nation, supporters of Purdue Athletics have further strengthened their commitment to the future of Boilermaker student-athletes.
John Purdue Club members have extended their generosity across the entire athletics calendar, with overall fundraising efforts netting an increase of 56 percent in contributions from the previous record year for Purdue Athletics.
Three different initiatives were the driving force behind this year's event giving: the Leroy Keyes Athletics Leadership Fellowship, John Purdue Club, and Varsity P, which allows athletics alumni to invest in their former program.
The Leroy Keyes Athletics Leadership Fellowship priority was established in 2021 as a way to honor longtime administrator and Purdue Football alumnus, Leroy Keyes. Gifts on Purdue Day of Giving bolstered this effort to more than $1.3 million raised to fully endow the fund, which aims to better diversify and enhance opportunities within Purdue Athletics for years to come.
"The Purdue community continues to increase their investment in our ability to provide the best resources possible for our student-athletes," said Tim House, executive senior associate athletics director and associate vice president for development. "It's been a transformative year with incredible support toward a variety of priorities which will drive the department forward, including Ross-Ade Stadium renovations, updates to the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, and Mackey Arena locker room renovations. We continue to be amazed by the generosity of our alumni and fans, who have stepped up to invest in our fundraising priorities."
With two months left in the fiscal year, the goal is to get even closer to fully funding scholarships while maximizing the ability to carry out additional departmental priorities.
From alumni, supporters, and friends to faculty, staff, and student-athletes – the far and wide engagement on Purdue Day of Giving and throughout the year has displayed an unwavering commitment to the development of Purdue Athletics, as a whole.
For those who missed the opportunity to join in on Purdue Day of Giving, the John Purdue Club membership deadline for the 2022-23 year is Saturday, April 30.
