URBANA, Ill. – Four Purdue cross country runners raced at the final meet of the regular season at the Illini Open in Urbana, Illinois, on Friday.
Freshman Christel Elkins earned the Boilermakers' top finish on the 5k course at Illinois' UI Arboretum.
Elkins was 14th overall with a time of 18:50. In her first meet of the season, senior teammate Meagan Hathaway earned a 16th-place finish in 18:57.1. Sophomore Jaelyn Burgos crossed the finish line in 19:16.8 to place 25th and graduate student Emma Keesling finished 37th in 20:31.5.
Up next, championship season commences next week, as the Boilermakers travel to the Big Ten Cross Country Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on October 28.
