WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A trio of career-best times for Maggie Love and a combined margin of victory of 114 points for Jordan Rzepka helped earned the Purdue swimming & diving sophomores weekly recognition from the Big Ten Conference.
Love was named the women's Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, joining Hannah Hill as active members of the women's team to win the honor. The Boilermakers have not had a women's Swimmer of the Week during the fall semester since Emily Fogle in November 2015.
Rzepka claimed his second career men's Big Ten Diver of the Week award. He was also recognized in February of last season after a strong showing at the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals in Minneapolis to close the dual meet portion of the schedule.
In Purdue's season-opening meet at Missouri, Love was victorious in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke Friday of the two-day meet. She won the events about 15 minutes apart, posting lifetime bests in both. She was also the runner-up in the 50 freestyle Saturday. Love moved up the program's all-time lists in all three events.
Rzepka was victorious on 1-meter Friday with a big score of 379.80, winning by 75.75 points. He won again Saturday on 3-meter with a list score of 362.48, emerging victorious by 38.48 points.
