Boilermakers Wrap Up Spring Season

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue soccer team concluded its spring exhibition season with a 2-0 loss to DePaul on Saturday afternoon at Folk Field.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue soccer team concluded its spring exhibition season with a 2-0 loss to DePaul on Saturday afternoon at Folk Field.

The visitors scored one goal in the first half and another in the second while preventing the Boilermakers from finding the back of the net.

Saturday was the fourth and final game of the spring exhibition slate for Purdue. A week earlier, on April 16, the Boilermakers defeated UIC, 3-1, in their first game at Folk Field in 2022. The exhibition season began with a 4-0 win over Evansville on February 26 at the Mollenkopf Athletic Center and also included a midweek loss at Notre Dame on April 12.

With the end of the semester and final exams a week away, followed by the summer break, Purdue will be back together as a team to begin preseason training in early August. The 2022 regular-season schedule will be announced at a later date.

The Old Gold and Black are coming off a memorable 2021 campaign, as they went 15-4-3, their second-best record and second-most wins in team history behind only 2007. Purdue made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009, and seventh time in program history, and advanced to the second round for the fourth time and first since 2007. The squad went 8-2-0 in the Big Ten and notched a runner-up finish, both tied for their best-ever marks.

Purdue finished the year ranked No. 24 in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25 national poll, appearing in the postseason poll for the third time ever and the first since 2007. Individual accolades included an All-America honor, two All-Region accolades, five All-Big Ten Team awards, the Big Ten Forward of the Year and the first two NWSL draft picks in team history.
