WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Coming down to a third set to determine the final singles match, the Purdue women's tennis team fell to the No. 45 Badgers 3-4.
Purdue secured the doubles point to give a strong start to the match. Coming down to a tiebreaker, Tara Katarina Milic and Rut Galindo edged above their opponent to raise Purdue's score at No. 2, 7-6(4).
Purdue edged a 2-0 lead, from No. 71 Csilla Fodor besting her opponent with the score of 6-1, 6-2 overtaking Ava Markham.
Fodor's win was her 29th of the year, moving her into a six-way tie with for third in single-season program history.
The Badgers took the next two singles points at No. 2 and 3 to tie the match up with Purdue, 2-2.
At No. 5 Rut Galindo brought her match into a third set to decide the contest. The sophomore put up a tough fight, but dropped 2-6, 4-6, 6-4.
