BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Purdue Women's Golf braved a chilly Saturday, completing 36 holes in third place for the Indiana Invitational. Sophomore Ashley Kozlowski led the Boilermakers throughout the day and sits in a tie for second with 18 holes to play.
The Boilermakers (+25) find themselves behind No. 18 Michigan and Wisconsin, as the two conference foes hold the clubhouse lead at 9-over.
Kozlowski countered four birdies with four bogeys for an opening-round 72 (E). After beginning the tournament with a birdie on the par-3 third, she finished her first 18 strong with three birdies over her final six holes. The Littleton, Colorado, native had three straight birdies on holes 15-17, two of them being on par threes, to continue dominating the short holes. Kozlowski shot 73 (+1) in round two to find herself in second place and lead the field in par-3 scoring (-2) through 36 holes.
Danielle du Toit fired a 1-under 71, a team best in the opening round. She grinded 15 pars during the morning round. Following a 78 (+6) in the afternoon, the senior is tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard.
Inez Wanamarta added a two-round total of 151 (+7), tied for 16th amongst the 68-player field.
The Boilermakers wrap up the Indiana Invitational Sunday morning, teeing off with the Wolverines and Badgers. The shotgun start is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.
