Du Toit Paces Purdue in Opening Round of the Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, S.C. – Danielle du Toit fired a 75 (+3) to pace Purdue Women's Golf on the first day of the Clemson Invitational. The senior Boilermaker finds herself in the top third of the leaderboard, tied for 29th, playing the difficult Sunset, South Carolina golf course.

SUNSET, S.C.Danielle du Toit fired a 75 (+3) to pace Purdue Women's Golf on the first day of the Clemson Invitational. The senior Boilermaker finds herself in the top third of the leaderboard, tied for 29th, playing the difficult Sunset, South Carolina golf course.
 
The Reserve at Lake Keowee showed its teeth throughout the opening round with all 18 teams in the field finishing over par for the day. Illinois and host Clemson shared the lead in the clubhouse at 4-over (292), while No. 9 Florida is just two shots back. The Boilermakers find themselves in 17th (+24), ahead of No. 23 Virginia Tech with 36 holes to play. 
 
Only nine golfers out of the 102-player field broke par in round one. Following du Toit's 75, Inez Wanamarta and Kan Bunnabodee shot 78 (+6). Both Boilermakers recorded 12 pars and six bogeys throughout their respective rounds.
 
Purdue will look to vault up the leaderboard on moving day, with Saturday's second round beginning at 9 a.m. ET. The Boilermakers will be on the tee beginning at 10:48 a.m. ET, starting on the back nine.
