Volleyball Welcomes Eva Hudson

A national champion and two-time All-State honoree, Eva Hudson will join the program for the 2022 season.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Head coach Dave Shondell and the Purdue volleyball family are excited to announce the addition of Eva Hudson to the program. Hudson, an outside hitter, is an Indiana native and set to join the team for the upcoming fall.

"Our program has always taken pride in coaching the best from our home state and Eva Hudson is the epitome of that effort," said Shondell. "It is important to secure the borders of your state if you hope to create something special. Eva is a player who competes with genuine passion and intensity. As a coach, I've watched her develop for many years and I'm so grateful she will be a Boilermaker. Eva has the ability to be a terrific five-tool player: serve, pass, defend, block, and attack at an elite level."

Hudson is a product of Fort Wayne, Indiana, coming up through the Munciana club system and Bishop Dwenger High School. As a two-time All-State team honoree, Hudson has helped her club team to national title in 2020. Meanwhile, with her high school, Hudson won a state title where she set the Indiana state record for most kills in a five set championship match and will graduate Bishop Dwenger as the reigning conference champion for the last four straight years.

Moreover, in 2021, Hudson guided her team to an AAU 18 open National Champion status, as well as was named a AAU All-American.

Averaging a .428 hitting % at Bishop Dwenger, Hudson totaled 1,557 kills during her high school career. Defensively, the 6'1" outside hitter tallied 811 digs and 264 blocks.

Hudson is the fifth Boilermaker to be signed to the program since the conclusion of the 2021 season, which saw an Elite Eight run. Hudson will join Iowa transfer graduate student Hannah Clayton (middle blocker), Missouri junior transfer Emily Brown (defensive specialist) along with fellow freshmen Elizabeth Carr (middle blocker) and Brielle Warren (outside hitter) for the 2022 season.
