Sekne, Weiler Moving up in Palmer Cup Rankings

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's golfers Herman Sekne and Joe Weiler are moving up the Palmer Cup rankings, in the latest rankings released by Golfstat and the Golf Coaches Association of America.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's golfers Herman Sekne and Joe Weiler are moving up the Palmer Cup rankings, in the latest rankings released by Golfstat and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
 
The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university / college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players.
 
The top six golfers from the spring's final ranking from both the United States and International men and women shall be among the individuals selected to compete in the Palmer Cup. The event will be  hosted by Golf Club de Genève July 1-3, 2022, in Vandœuvres, Switzerland.
 
The remaining six spots for the United States will consist of five committee picks, including at least one non-Division I golfer, and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team also includes five committee selections, including at least one representative from The R&A Student Tour Series, and a coaches pick.
 
Sekne, a sophomore from Oslo, Norway, is ranked 10th in the International rankings after an outstanding start to his season. Sekne has won two of the five tournaments played this year with a total of four top-20 showings. He owns a 69.20 stroke average and is a cumulative 36-under par for the season. He already has seven rounds in the 60s this year and has posted nine consecutive rounds of even-par or better. Sekne is 28th in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
 
Weiler, a senior from Bloomington, Indiana, is 22nd in the USA rankings after posting top-20 showings in all five events so far this year. Weiler owns a 70.07 stroke average with 11 rounds of even-par or better and five rounds in the 60s. He has three top-10 finishes this season and 11 for his career.
