WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team dropped Friday's match against No. 16 Washington Huskies in the Schwartz Tennis Center.
PURDUE vs. WASHINGTON
The Boilermakers came up short during their doubles match dropping the point to No. 16 Washington. Tara Katarina Milic and Carmen Gallardo Guevara fell to the Huskies Sarah-Maude Fortin and Tara Chilton at No. 2, 6-2. Rut Galindo and Juana Larranaga were unable to get an edge over Kelly Leung and Zoey Weil at No. 3, 6-1.
Sophomore Rut Galindo secured the first singles point for the Boilermakers with a victory over Kelly Leung, 6-4, 6-0.
Csilla Fodor took control of her match during the first set, and finalized her score with a tiebreaker at No. 1, to raise the Boilers score, 2-4.
Juana Larranaga pulled out a win in a third set over Tara Chilton, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
Purdue put up a tough fight against the Washington Huskies, but was unable to achieve a win. Purdue now sits at 5-3 overall on the season.
