LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational announced its weight class pre-seeds for this weekend's tournament at the Las Vegas Convention Center, unveiling seven entries for the No. 15 Purdue wrestling team. Defending event runner-up Devin Schroder earned the highest mark of any Boilermaker, coming in at the No. 2 seed at 125 pounds.
A two-time CKLV placewinner, Schroder was tagged as the No. 2 seed behind top-seeded and second-ranked Pat Glory of Princeton at 125. This is Schroder's best-ever preliminary seed in Las Vegas after being named the No. 3 seed in 2019.
Also earning top-five seeds at their respective weights are senior Parker Filius at 141 and junior Kendall Coleman at 157. Filius is the No. 5 seed, his first career pre-seed in Las Vegas, while Coleman is the No. 4 seed, matching his preliminary seed from 2019, where he placed fourth in a star-studded field.
Junior Thomas Penola and freshman Matt Ramos earned the No. 6 seeds at 197 and 133 pounds, respectively, while senior Max Lyon and sophomore Gerrit Nijenhuis were named the No. 7 seeds at 184 and 174. Penola competed in Las Vegas at heavyweight as a freshman, advancing to the Round of 12, while Lyon was one win from podium as well in 2019. This weekend will be the first career appearance for Ramos and Nijenhuis.
