The Boilermakers went cold in the second half to drop their first game of the season to Dayton, 78-62. Ra Shaya Kyle finished with a career-high 20 points with eight rebounds, while a trio of theirs finished in double figures. After shooting an even 50% in the first half, Purdue went 3-of-12 in the third quarter, which allowed the Flyers to pull away.
NOTES
• Purdue and Marshall will meet for the first time in history. The Boilermakers are currently 13-15 all-time against the Thundering Herd's current home, Conference USA, and 4-0 all-time against their future conference, the Sun Belt.
• Ra Shaya Kyle has been on a tear over the last three games with 17.6 points per night. The sophomore has also blocked seven six shots over the last two games.
• Madison Layden's 3-point streak came to an end against Dayton. The sophomore owns the second longest stretch of games with a 3-pointer, behind Ashley Morrissette's 25.
• Abbey Ellis is third on the team with 13.8 points per game. The Aussie is shooting 52.9% from the field and 46.2% from behind the arc.
• Kyle ranks in the top 20 nationally and fourth in the Big Ten with a 65.7% field goal clip.
• Brooke Moore jumped into double figures for the first time this season against Dayton. The senior has scored 10 or more points in 31 career games, which is second on team to Ellis.
• Averaging 20.2 minutes per game, Mide Oriyomi has climbed up to third on the team in rebounding with 4.8 boards per night.
• Purdue has 30 3-pointers on the year. After hitting nine in each of the first three games, the Boilermakers connected just three times from the outside against Dayton.
• The Boilermakers' scoring has been pretty even throughout the season, averaging between 17 and 18.5 points per quarter.
