WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 20th-ranked Purdue wrestling remains on the road this weekend, set for its third straight road dual of the season. The Boilermakers head to Cleveland State University on Sunday, scheduled for a 2 p.m. ET dual at Woodling Gymnasium against the Vikings.
PURDUE LINEUP & RANKINGS
Purdue climbed one spot in the NWCA Coaches Poll this week, jumping to No. 20 after season-opening dual wins. The Boilermakers saw four of their seven ranked wrestlers improve their national standings at their respective weight classes, while Gerrit Nijenhuis was adjusted to the 174-pound weight class from his preseason marks at 165, and Max Lyon held steady at 184 pounds. The Boilermakers were 5-2 against ranked opponents in their opening weekend.

Purdue opened up 2021-22 with a pair of dual wins on the East Coast, taking a 29-18 win at Drexel and a 33-3 victory at Rider. After winning the first three matches of the dual the Boilermakers fell behind 18-14 against Drexel. Max Lyon, Thomas Penola and Michael Woulfe finished the dual in strong fashion, tacking another 15 points on to the team score and sealing the win. At Rider, the Boilermakers took nine-of-10 matches over the Broncs, including falls from Woulfe and Matt Ramos.

• Sunday will be the 11th all-time meeting between Cleveland State and Purdue, with the Boilermakers holding a 7-2-1 all-time edge, including seven in a row over the Vikings.
• Both of Cleveland State's victories against Purdue have come on their home turf, earning a 30-7 win in 1983 and a 22-19 victory in 1985, the Boilermakers' last trip to the Vikings' venue.
• Purdue and Cleveland State last met in 2007, with the Boilermakers earning a 30-6 win at the Boilermaker Duals at nearby Benton Central High School.
