WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Heading into the first week of the 2021-22 season the Purdue wrestling team earned another top-25 preseason ranking, earning the No. 21 spot in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Coaches Poll. The Boilermakers received 53 votes and were one of 11 Big Ten Conference teams tagged in the rankings.
The Boilermakers have been ranked in the preseason top-25 in three straight seasons under head coach Tony Ersland, and have now been ranked in 22 consecutive polls since opening the 2019-20 season outside the top-25. Purdue has earned votes in 57 straight weeks, dating to the final poll of the 2016-17 season.
Purdue opens its season Saturday, heading to Philadelphia for a 1 p.m. ET dual at Drexel, followed by an 8 p.m. contest at Rider.
