WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's basketball team is ranked No. 7 in the preseason coaches Top 25 poll released earlier today.
The Boilermakers garnered 578 votes to sit in 7th place, 48 points behind No. 6-ranked Michigan. Purdue is 36 points ahead of No. 8 Baylor. The top 10 consists of Gonzaga, UCLA, Kansas, Villanova, Texas, Michigan, Purdue, Baylor, Duke and Illinois.
Among top-25 teams, Purdue will face No. 6 Michigan (twice), No. 10 Illinois (twice), No. 17 Ohio State, No. 19 Florida State, No. 20 North Carolina and No. 21 Maryland, with possible games against No. 4 Villanova or No. 17 Tennessee.
In addition, other opponents receiving votes include Michigan State (26th), Indiana (30th), Iowa (39th), Rutgers (42nd) and Butler (47th).
