Softball Picks Up Transfer Alexa Pinarski

Head coach Boo De Oliveira and the entire Purdue softball program welcomes Columbia pitcher transfer Alexa Pinarski to the Boilermaker family.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Head coach Boo De Oliveira and the entire Purdue softball program welcomes Columbia pitcher transfer Alexa Pinarski to the Boilermaker family.

Pinarski, a junior righty, transfers to Purdue after spending two seasons with Columbia. Not only was she a First Team All-Ivy League in 2019, she compiled 13 wins in her rookie season (second-most by a rookie in program history) with three shutouts and 10 complete games.

"Lex was a successful pitcher at Columbia, and we truly believe she will have success here at Purdue too," said De Oliveira. "She has great spin and movement, as well as experience in big games. She's an Indiana native and knows what it means to be a Boilermaker."

Pinarksi posted the most shutouts in the Ivy league during her inaugural season after attending Lake Central High School in Dyer, Indiana. While at Lake Central, she led the team to a combined 103-27-1 record  and two runner-up finishes at the Indiana State Championship Tournament (2015 and 2018). Named a finalist for the Indiana Miss Softball award and Softball Player of the Year by the Times of Northwest Indiana and Post-Tribune, she was a first team all-state and two-time first team all-conference selection.

"I was looking to continue my softball career and maintain the vigorous academics to which I was accustomed," said Pinarski. "I had my eye on Purdue since multiple family members attended, and I have heard nothing but good things about the coaching staff and players."

Pinarksi has already begun practice with the team and majors in Visual Communications Design.

The pitcher is the second to transfer to Purdue ahead of the 2022 season, after De Oliveira added Oklahoma State pitcher Gabby Sprang in July.
