Bunnabodee Rallies Late to Advance at U.S. Amateur

RYE, N.Y. – Down three after 13 holes, junior Kan Bunnabodee won four of the final five to rally for a 1-up victory in the Round of 64 in match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur on Wednesday. The victory over Alyson Bean advances 11th-seeded Bunnabodee into Thursday's Round of 32 against 43rd-seeded Emma Spitz of Austria. The pair are set to be the final of the 16 twosomes to begin with a 9:30 a.m. ET tee time.

RYE, N.Y. – Down three after 13 holes, junior Kan Bunnabodee won four of the final five to rally for a 1-up victory in the Round of 64 of match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur on Wednesday. The victory over Alyson Bean advances 11th-seeded Bunnabodee into Thursday's Round of 32 against 43rd-seeded Emma Spitz of Austria. The pair are set to be the final of the 16 twosomes to begin with a 9:30 a.m. ET tee time.
 
Bunnabodee saw an early two-hole edge evaporate in the middle of the round, as Bean took the fifth hole, tied the match at the eighth, took the lead on nine and extended the advantage to 3-up after winning the 10th and 13th holes. With little margin for error over the remaining five holes, Bunnabodee took the par-3 14th with a birdie, pulled within one with a birdie on the par-3 16th and squared the match with a par on the 17th. Tied heading into the par-5 18th, Bunnabodee pulled out a birdie to one-up Bean's par to seal the victory and advance to the next round.
 
The 121st U.S. Women's Amateur, being held at Westchester Country Club, continues Thursday with the Rounds of 32 and 16. Play begins at 7 a.m. with live coverage of the Round of 16 slated to start at 3 p.m. ET on NBC's Peacock streaming service.
