WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue soccer team welcomes in-state foe Ball State to Folk Field on Sunday, August 29, for a 1 p.m. ET contest at Folk Field.
 
Admission is free for all fans at every regular-season home matches in 2021. Sunday is Pooches at the Pitch, where fans are welcome to bring their furry friends. There will be a dog leash and frisbee giveaway to the first 100 fans with dogs, and a kiddy pool for dogs to enjoy.
 
University, local and state health guidelines will be followed on game day. Updates will be provided by Purdue Athletics, if necessary. A clear bag policy will be implemented for all events in Purdue Athletics facilities this year, and information can be found at PurdueSports.com/ClearBag.

The Boilermakers are coming off a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga on August 26. Purdue is 1-0-2 on the year after sophomore defender Nicole Kevdzija netted the game-winner in the 69th minute and senior goalkeeper Marisa Bova earned her first shutout of the season on Thursday night. The Cardinals play just their second match of the season tomorrow and come to West Lafayette with a 1-0-0 mark thanks to a 3-1 victory at Valparaiso on August 22.
 
LAST TIME OUT: SHUTOUT VICTORY
Purdue remained undefeated and picked up its first win of the young season with a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga on Thursday evening at Folk Field. As the Boilermaker defense earned their first clean sheet, the Bulldogs were shut out for the first time after they combined to score seven goals in their opening two games.
 
Kevdzija's goal was the fourth of her career and third game-winning goal in 15 career matches. Bova made a season-best seven saves to earn the 14th shutout of her career, which is tied for third-most in school history. Purdue was out-shot 14-10, while Gonzaga had a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.

SERIES HISTORY VS. BALL STATE
Purdue is 3-1-0 all-time against Ball State and 3-0-0 at home. The two teams last met in 2014, when the Boilermakers registered a 2-0 victory. The Old Gold and Black also own a 6-1 win in 2009 and a 2-0 triumph in 2002, the first meeting in the in-state series. BSU's lone win came in 2003, 1-0 in Muncie.
 
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State is 1-0 in 2021 thanks to a 3-1 win at Valparaiso last Sunday. The Cardinals benefited from a penalty-kick goal in the 12th minute, though Valpo found the equalizer seven minutes later. BSU took the lead back in the 42nd minute and added its third goal in the 53rd. Goalkeeper Alex DeRuvo made five saves. Ball State had a 13-9 advantage in shots and an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
 
Last season, the Cardinals were 6-3-1 in a conference-only season contested in the spring of 2021. BSU lost the Mid-American Conference championship game, 2-1 to Bowling Green.
 
UP NEXT: PURDUE TRAVELS TO SOUTH BEND
The Boilermaker face another in-state foe on Thursday, September 2, when they meet Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET. Purdue then returns home to host Saint Louis on Sunday, September 5, at 1 p.m. at Folk Field.
