Drews Leads Team USA to Semifinals

Drews produced a team-best 22 points, marking the second consecutive match she recorded 20-plus points.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For the second straight match, Purdue volleyball alum Annie Drews led Team USA to victory in the Olympic quarterfinals, downing the Dominican Republic in sweeping fashion (25-11, 25-20, 25-19).

The win advanced Team USA to the semifinals, scheduled for 12 a.m. ET on August 6, where they will take on Serbia.

Drews produced a team-best 22 points, marking the second consecutive match she recorded 20-plus points. The Elkhart, Indiana native's showing included 21 kills on 35 attempts for a .528 hitting clip. Drews has made an immediate impact on Team USA, having made two straight starts and propelling them to victory on both occasions.
