RYE, N.Y. – Junior Kan Bunnabodee birdied three of the four par-5 holes at the Westchester Country Club in the opening round of the U.S. Women's Amateur on Monday and finished with an 18-hole score of even-par 72. She sits in a tie for 14th with five others after the first day, three strokes behind her countrymate from Thailand Suthavee Chanachai in the standings.

RYE, N.Y. – Junior Kan Bunnabodee birdied three of the four par-5 holes at the Westchester Country Club in the opening round of the U.S. Women's Amateur on Monday and finished with an 18-hole score of even-par 72. She sits in a tie for 14th with five others after the first day, three strokes behind her countrymate from Thailand Suthavee Chanachai in the standings.
 
Starting the round on the back nine, Bunnabodee carded a 1-under 35 with birdies on the 12th and 18th holes to open. After posting back-to-back bogeys to begin the front nine, she settled in with a birdie and six pars over the next seven holes to wrap up the day even at 72.
 
Bunnabodee was merely one of 19 golfers in the 156-player field to shoot par or better in the opening round. She will start the second day of the tournament Tuesday with an 8:24 a.m. ET tee time on the first hole.
