WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's golfers Joe Weiler and Nick Dentino won medalist honors at US Amateur sectional qualifying to advance to the 121st US Amateur Championship, held at Oakmont Country Club from August 9 to 15, in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's golfers Joe Weiler and Nick Dentino won medalist honors at US Amateur sectional qualifying to advance to the 121st US Amateur Championship, held at Oakmont Country Club from August 9 to 15, in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
 
Dentino advanced by earning medalist honors at The Country Club in Pepper Pike, Ohio, shooting a 36-hole total of 8-under par 136 (67-69). He defeated Ohio State's Maxwell Moldovan by one shot to earn one of two spots available.
 
Weiler dominated his qualifying sectional at Sand Creek in Chesterton, Indiana, shooting a two-round total of 10-under par 134 (65-69). He defeated Clay Stirsman by five shots for the individual title. Cole Bradley lost in a playoff for the third and final spot at 4-under par 140.
 
Weiler is a two-time PING All-Midwest Region honoree as well as a two-time All-Big Ten selection, while Dentino owns the lowest freshman scoring average mark in school history, set in the 2019-20 season.
