Otec Announces Return For Fall 2021

The Spring 2021 All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Jena Otec will return for the Fall 2021 season.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Spring 2021 All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Jena Otec has announced her return for the Fall 2021 season.

"I am so excited to have the opportunity to play the sport I love for another year," said Otec. "This decision was a no brainer and an opportunity of a lifetime to get to play with and for my amazing teammates, coaches and the best fans in college volleyball. This team is special. I love them all and I want to help make a difference any way I can. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I cannot wait to be back in Holloway this fall!"

The Crystal City, Missouri native graduated earlier this month with a degree in Selling & Sales Management. Otec's fifth year of eligibility is made possible by NCAA legislation that grants student-athletes the ability to return for another season due to COVID-19's impact.

On her way to AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, VolleyballMag.com Second Team All-America, First Team All-Big Ten and the program's first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year accolades, Otec led the league and ranked 23rd nationally with 383 digs this spring. Her 4.56 digs per set were the third-best mark by a Boilermaker in program history.
